BRISTOL

Based on confluence of River Avon and River Frome, Bristol is a city situated in the South west of England (west of London). Bristol is known for its

  • International Port
  • Docks at Avonmouth, Portishead and Royal Portburg
  • St. Mary Redcliffe cathedral (built in the 14th century) (I often go through this cathedral in Bristol. )
  • Concorde (Franco-British airliner was built in Bristol)
  • Clifton Suspension Bridge
  • University of Bristol
  • Woolen Clothes
  • Statue of Rajarammohan roy (reformer of India) just opposite to the Central library.
  • Bristol is well connected to major cities in UK. Bristol has an Airport (we flew to glasgow from this Airport. Last year, when we went to Edinburgh it was also from this airport). Most of the buildings in Bristol are new. I live nearby to temple meads railway station. Every place in UK, has a place known as city centre and it is here that most of the facilities are available. There are no small shops (like we have in India). Most of them are a chain of retailers (ASDA (walmart), Sainsbury's, Woolsworth, Wilkinson, Robert Dysan(Do it Yourself), TESCO, Marks & Spencers, etc). There is place called Galleries (similar to Spencer Plaza in Chennai). Here we find all the shops at one place. We often frequent out to this place to have some chinese food and ice creams. Here we can buy an allday pass for travel in buses. The charges for buses are based on time. Peak time charges are more compared to off peak time charges. Also weekend charges vary from weekday charges. This applies to airlines and railway services too. There are many Indian restaurants in this place. But sometimes it is better to cook at home than order from these restaurants. Public Transportation: Operated by First Group (First Great Western, First Great Western link) Airlines: BA, EasyJet, KLM etc Country Code: 44 First Group
