Ruth Rendell's "The Bridesmaid"

So after our critic started reviewing Ruth Rendell's books, I thought why not I too read her books and know a bit more about her writings. Well, this is how I started reading Ruth Rendell's books. I read Simisola, a Wexford mystery and yesterday I read the book The Bridesmaid. So what do I think of The Bridesmaid. Well, it too is excellent and the characterization of the hero who is afraid of murders and murder stories who hates to watch television hoping they would put some murder story, the heroine(Senta) who is very passionate about Philip, who thinks she is above law and is a agoraphobic(fear of open spaces) and wants Philip to murder someone to prove his love for him and she too would murder someone to prove her love for him. Philip's sister Cheryl who from the start is involved in some mysterious activities, which always bother Philip. Philip's mother and other sister Fee and her husband Darren. Well, it is a story where the charcters of Philip and Senta are well described and they are excellent. You can't help knowing the person if you see them and you may really believe that they are some true person. The statue Flora which resembles the heroine. Well, this is a very good thriller which keeps you spellbound of what would happen and you will read through the book without ever wanting to stop reading. And the end where you come to know about the simple truth, that is awesome.

I have read a book of hers earlier, in which the hero is obsessed with the heroine and he is well trapped by the heroine and is charged for murder. I don't remember the book's name and I saw the hindi version of the book in a movie, where exactly the same sequence of events described in the book occurs. I think it was a Urmila movie. I don't really remember the name of the movie. Also, while reading this book I remembered seeing a Urmila and Fardeen Khan movie where Urmila is obsessed with Fardeen even after knowing that he is married and he even tries to murder his wife and ends up in a mental asyllum. So personally I think the obsessive and passionate characters of Ruth Rendell prove very good for movies, where even though you know that the person obsessed is committing crime, you cannot pity the character for they commit crime to prove their love and they think they are above law. They can just see their love and nothing else.
