The Lake District

How did I hear about Lake District? Well, my friend of mine is a very great enthusiast of visiting new places and he came up with this idea of going to Lake District after hiring a car. But we would were not ready to take the risk of going with him as he would be driving in UK for the first time. But he did go for the trip and I did a small research about Lake District in UK. Well, it is considered one of the beautiful landscapes after the Highlands of Scotland. With many lakes and hills emerged after the 100,000 year Ice Age that prevailed all over Northern Europe. Well, it seems that North Wales is an ancient submarine volcanic remains. It is because of these volcanic eruptions that this district is very very fertile and is home for an astounding variety of flora. (Flora just remains of the Statue from the book Bridesmaid, I am currently reading this book. More on this soon).  Also it seems that England is moving towards Scotland and it would take another 120 million years before they met.

History

About the 3 million years before till 14,000 years, there were no more volcanic activity and the land was settling down and dinosaurs had disappeared from the face of the earth. After the death of the dinosaurs, all the other species started growing multi found and new species were being born sooner and the world is not filled with millions and millions of species. (Got this information from the series Journey of life, described in the TV section). So about 150,000 years go from North pole till London it was covered by ice and even Ben Nevis(well, I had gone there to Ben Nevis during our trip to Glasgow) the tallest peak in UK (4409 ft) was not visible. So there was so much ice throughout and slowly. The temperature then was around -80 degree celcius. Whole of Britain was covered by glaciers and these glaciers slowly moved and now it has been proved that the markings on some landscapes in Uk and Switzerland were because of the glacier movements. And the moving glaciers shaped the current landscape of lakes and districts around it. Unearthings in Trafalgar Square and other parts of UK showed large bones belonging to the animals of Africa like lion, hippo, elephant etc. But because of the ICE AGE(having spells of both cold and warm temperatures), the animals must have perished. It is after the ice age(before app. 14,000 years) again live(humans and other animals) began to thrive. So this is how some of the best landscapes of Lake District, Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales and Cairngorns were carved out by the glaciers. and it is believed that the ice age is continuing and again it will prevail all throughout Europe and Northern hemisphere.
Lake District is England's most celebrated, most visited and most hyped scenic area. It is located between the industrial England and the Scottish borders. Almost 12 million people visit this place to enjoy and experience the lakes, picturesque landscapes and alpine landscapes.
